May 30, 2012 - I have so much respect for what you've just said, Alex. I did Live & Unsigned recently and it's all to do with "industry judges" and "talent scouts" and I just thought what is the point? They gave the vaguest feedback, and I felt so freaking uncomfortable at this event. I kept thinking of the geeky Sherlock/Doctor Who music I make, and how what my Tumblr friends thought matters more than what some guy in a suit had to say. So, thank you for putting my thoughts into words <3

He self finanaced his album, and when it took off, he EMPLOYED a major label to do some of the work on his behalf, rather than them doing it and telling him how they'll do it. So he was the boss of them and they were working for him. With 42m sales, you can tell them to jump and they'll say how high :-)

Apr 12, 2012 - Adele has major distribution (if you look behind most labels you'll see a major blanketing a good amount of what they do) and a BRIT school background (not that its alumni at all follow a given route per se), but I wouldn't name her as an independent artist in the most thorough sense. With that said, her attitude to her career and personality are both lovely!
