May 3, 2012 - Something lacking in Bud Powell? God, I wish all jazz pianists were so lacking!

Apr 8, 2012 - Very sad that the police beat this man who was suffering from mental illness and totally ruined his life at that point... He powered on in the face of all that to become one of the greatest be-bop piano players of his and of all time!!!!!! LONG LIVE BUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jan 21, 2012 - Remember: Some people like the color blue, some like green, some like brown, and like that. Each to his--or her-- own choosing.

Nov 5, 2011 - What a recording! Bud was 26, Roy was 24, Fats was 26 (and would be gone 11 months later), Potter was the old man on the session at 31.

Aug 12, 2011 - not to be a hater but i actually felt that powell's playing lacked some dissonance. for me there was always something missing. classic track though

Jan 23, 2010 - thank you for your time, and input. Around 2002 I saw Newk at BB Kings and there I was at the end of the show, thinking that I'd be able to speak with him personally. Then, there was a mass of fans, some with photograph's, and album covers in hand wanting his signature. And Stanley Crouch was the mediator to the madness. I didn't get anywhere near him. It was was very narrow minded of me to think that I'd be the only one who was touched by his work!
